Parsons + Teen Vogue Assignment: Your Product

So this assignment ties a few previous ones together, one where I made my own line print, one that I had to work out production costs and another that I had to make a small mock up of my bag!

This was fairly easy for me since this was the second bag that I had constructed.  I lined the bag with a pale pink color and sewed it together! I still need some practice on the straight lines but I think this is good for a third attempt at sewing!

Parsons + Teen Vogue Assignment: Your MockUp

I had to create the bag that I drew a couple weeks ago, seems easy right? I have just started using a sewing machine and I must say it was a bit challenging.  I also bit off a lot more than I could chew… I drew a brown tote with a pretty swirly pattern, easy breezy right? Haha. Between the needle coming un-threaded, dropping the bobbin and trying to figure out how to navigate this hard pattern, it took about 2 hours start to finish.  I think for making this bag for the very first time that it came out pretty!!

Parsons + Teen Vogue Assignment: Production Standards

Okay, so this assignment I need to write about different sizes that I try on at a store.  Let’s go jean shopping! That’s always fun!

I start my trip at TJ Maxx, because- why pay more?  I scour the plus size racks to find some cute options…I’ve just lost about 34 pounds so finding the correct size is daunting. I try on five pairs and bring home three. They are not the same size and it’s crazy to think that in one designer you can wear one and in another it could be more!

Here’s my latest haul:

I wish there was a standard of sizing instead of all designers having different sizes! That would be perfect. What if there were no sizes…what if they were something arbitrary like colors, or flowers…

Parsons + Teen Vogue Assignment: Production Costs

I am currently in the fashion design program at Parsons + Teen Vogue.  I was lucky enough to be accepted into this online program. In this assignment I had to calculate production costs for a previous assignment.  I chose my unconventional assignment, I made a necklace out of window screen, hot glue and paint. It was so pretty when it turned out! This necklace took me roughly three hours to make because I really had to concentrate with the hot glue to get it just right.
